Goodbye DPS

my days at DPS are over.. i should say i enjoyed my experience there searching resumes, maintaining employee files, checking backgrounds and references, etc..but then time comes when u have to move on..this is another step to my career and im excited, im a little scared though..bigger company, bigger responsibilities..but i know i should be ok..

i would like to extend a big THANK YOU to DPS - if not because of my work experience there, i would not have landed in this HR world at Hill Physicians Medical Group..tomorrow im heading to a new world, new work environment, new co-workers..i dont know whats in store for me..although i may have an idea of how it should be since ive been working in an HR-related environment for a year and 10mos at DPS..sob sob sob..ive grown there..i met crazy people and some sane ones..some of them serious of finding work, some are just, well - u know what i mean..and most especially - i met my hunny Kevin there..giggles :)

im up to this challenge..im looking forward to what this step of my career has in store for me...and i should say im ready...

It's all about the recruiting baby...

Snow in the Bay Area?

Are you kidding me? I was getting ready to bed when the I heard from the news about snow falling in Hayward and Livermore. Seriously? Well, yes they were serious about it. The next morning, I woke up and as I looked through my window, the hills were covered with nothing else but snow.  I understand it's much cooler up here by the hills but snow? No way. Can't have snow here. No snow please. Thank you. Blah, blah, blah.

Why I hate winter...

I honestly hate winter. Well, maybe "hate" is a strong word. But still, I don't like it. Here are the top ten reasons why....

1> Winter storms or snowstorms. Just the thought of how a person's life can be in danger because of that....and it happened just recently too-claiming the lives of several people. Sad.

2> PG&E bill goes up. Yeah, because of the extreme cold, we have to turn on our heater...bummer. Waste of money!

3> No more swimming. Friends used to come over so we can enjoy the sun and the pool. Can't do that no more, it's freezing cold outside!

4> It turns my car into a freezer. Every winter, when I get to my car, I feel like I have been shoved to a fridge or worse - a freezer, I feel sorry for my heater....poor thing, too much work to do.

5> I need more hours of sleep. Regularly, I sleep for ten hours. But during winter, I need at least twelve hours. That's lesser hours for tv, shopping, or going out.

6> Traffic. People tend to slow down when they're on the road. And it scares me too......something creepy happened last winter to me and my sister-not gonna happen again.

7> Barbecue. We never barbecue during this time. I don't know why. Some people still do. So I'm blaming it all to "winter".... heheheh

8> My skin gets really really really dry. It gets to the extent where I would need to put on lotion or moisturizer eight times a day. Seriously, that's another waste of money.

9> I have to wrap myself up everytime I go out. I feel so restricted. No more plain tees or tanks. No more sexy shoes or flip-flops. Bummer.

10> Frap or smoothies. No more vanilla bean frap from Starbucks or Mango-A-Go-Go from Jamba juice. It's sad to know that I can't them during winter. And they're my only favorite. It'll turn me to ice if I have one now. Seriously.

That's it. I guess I will have to wait for spring (wee!!)..then summer (woohoo!!)...or fall (nah!)...But yeah, these are the top 10 reasons why I am not a fan of winter.

How to get away from cops..

people say i'm "lucky" - pulled over 3 times but never got a ticket. i wouldn't say so. i don't know if it's something that i say or do to these cops, they always let me go. of course, i am more than happy to drive away without those $350 tickets.......

Dougherty rd, i should say would be their haven - i have been pulled over at that same spot twice. and on hopyard rd once. i wonder why they never catch me on the freeway driving 90mph. crazy? yes. the moment they turn on those lights, i should say i'm in trouble. but hey, if i can do this, maybe everyone else can. once they approach you, always say "hi" or "hello" or "how are you?".. ask them if there's something wrong. and if they tell you, always say "i'm sorry officer,......" with your explanation. hand your driver's license with a smile. and show them your insurance card with a bigger smile. act like you really are sorry for what you did. i know there is nothing to be sorry about but this just works for me. so whatever. and they'd say it'll be a warning, so they'd let me go. three cops - three warnings, isn't it odd? but yeah, everytime i see those red and blue lights - it's like a familiar scene for me these days.

they say i'm lucky. maybe i am. maybe not.
